“Everyone is running around leading up to the New Year holidays, and all the commotion is taking away the pure joy the holidays were supposed to bring.” This thought is the reason why LLAB Design came up with the innovative concept Unlimited Happiness, where by understanding the types of presents to gift to families and friends, this idea can ensure everyone a joyous occasion, and a happy new year.
Unlimited Happiness is a New Year gift box containing everything you need for the holidays, allowing you to instantly spread the love and prepare for the occasion.
The design revolves around the title theme Unlimited Happiness. In traditional Chinese culture, we follow the lucky saying “the never ending 3s and 6s”, a play on words of ‘infinity’ and ‘wealth’, and the structure of the box is therefore divided into three layers and in a hexagonal shape. In terms of the graphics, the use of a galaxy element implies spreading an endless joy, giving a traditional New Year a younger and fresher spell.
The top layer of the box is stamped with gold with the themed design made from insulating material, which can be used as a teapot coaster while serving tea. The second layer consists of two hexagonal red packet packages, featuring different Chinese New Year mascots including lion dancers, firecrackers, lantern, sesame doughnuts, Buddha & spring onions. Together they dress up as cute New Year aliens, destined to bring happiness to every corner of the universe. The box can also be transformed into candy boxes, serving treats to visiting guests and of course, keeping the children entertained.
The traditional Fai Chun can be found in the base layer, where it can provide any space a sprinkle of New Year spirit. In terms of the design, the Fai Chun matches that of the red packet sets, highlighting the joy of the festivities. There’s a cool surprise too! Once you’ve taken out the Fai Chun, gently pull up the inner layer of the box and it’ll transform into a vase container, where you can slot your old vase in, giving it a brand new shine, with shades of gold and red illuminating the room, delivering a strong traditional touch and enhancing the mood for the New Year. Don’t worry if you don’t possess a vase. Simply place the flower in a water bottle and into the paper vase container for the exact same effect.
Scope of work include idea generation, structure design, graphic design, art direction, typography design, print production and material sourcing for packaging.
